JAM AND PLAY NOISE LAB

MUSIC INSTRUCTION AGREEMENT

This agreement is entered into by and between “Carmen” Adreanne Everingham (she/her) (hereafter referred to as "the Instructor") and the undersigned student and/or student’s legal guardian (hereafter referred to as "the Student").

1. LESSON REGISTRATION, SCHEDULE & LOCATION

  • Session Registration: Register for lessons by the session (a series of 8 weekly lessons)

    • Lessons are 40 minutes in length (once per week on a consistent day/time)

    • Days and times of lessons will be agreed upon by the Instructor and the Student before starting each session

  • Location: Lessons will take place at the Instructor’s home studio or the Student’s primary residence, or at another place agreed upon by both parties before starting the session. Location may be changed in extenuating circumstances if both parties agree.

2. INSTRUMENTS, SUPPLIES AND LEARNING MATERIALS

  • Instruments: Students will provide their own playable instrument or contact their instructor if they do not have one yet.

    • A “playable” instrument is an instrument that is in basic working order and can be used for learning. While it’s not necessary to have a high quality instrument at first, it can greatly improve the experience and growth of beginner players, and is necessary for growth in the intermediate and advanced levels. Finding the right instrument can be tricky but your Instructor has a lot of expertise in this area and is ready to help! :)

BEFORE deciding whether to purchase a new or used instrument, rent from an online or local retailer, or repair/maintain a nonplayable instrument that you already own…

***PLEASE CONTACT YOUR INSTRUCTOR IF YOU NEED HELP WITH YOUR INSTRUMENT***

  • Supplies: Students will provide their own supplies to play and maintain their instrument or contact their instructor if they need help obtaining supplies:

    • Violin/Fiddle - bow, light rosin, cleaning cloth, case with name tag, nail clippers

    • Viola - bow, dark or light rosin, cleaning cloth, case with name tag, nail clippers

    • Cello - bow, dark rosin, cleaning cloth, case with name tag, chair, nail clippers

  • Optional Supplies: Students may enjoy having these optional supplies as well:

    • Music stand - fold-up/travel music stands, or orchestra-style

    • Pencil - mechanical pencils with clips are best for orchestra music stands!

    • Extra strings - can be useful, in case you break one at a concert ;)

    • Method or song books - can be fun as an extension to your lesson materials

    • Tuner and metronome - download free apps on a device, or buy a digital version

  • Learning Materials: The Instructor may provide learning materials to the Student, including sheet music, practice logs, or other items intended to improve learning outcomes. Unless otherwise stated, these materials are included in the tuition fee and are intended for the Student to keep.

Any planned absences or additional cancellations occurring in the same session are nonrefundable with no make-up option.

  • Instructor Cancellations: If the Instructor must cancel a lesson due to illness or emergency, the Instructor will offer either a make-up lesson (for the current session) or a full refund for the lesson.
